Margaret Moulton

Whether photographing people or places, Margaret Moulton looks for moments that go unnoticed, whether they are people’s in-between expressions and gestures, or obscured scenes in the forest undergrowth. In her photographs the wooded tangle screens views into the forest at the same moment that it reveals its most intricate details, as if another reality lurks just beyond what we can see.

Margaret Moulton has worked as a fine art and editorial photographer, an educator and an arts administrator for more than 25 years. In 2010, her work was included in "Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography," at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Margaret’s photographs are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Hudson River Museum and private collections around the United States and in Europe. Margaret holds a B.A. in Philosophy from The Colorado College, and an M.F.A. from Mills College.
