Alex Guerrero

Alex Guerrero is a visual artist from the Dominican Republic. He worked under Jose Mercader, Master Graphic Designer of an Avant-Garde graphic center in the Dominican Republic; and Alfa y Omega Publishing Co. There, he experimented with alternative graphic processes that made him one of the most popular poster designers in Santo Domingo.

Throughout the 1980s, Guerrero won three first-place awards in national poster competitions. The last award was for creating a peace-promoting poster that earned him a trip to the 1983 International Peace Conference in Praugue, Czech Republic. Guerrero was the second Latin American to study at the School of Applied Arts (VSUP) in Prague, and attended on a full scholarship.

Guerrero has shown in both solo and group exhibitions in Santo Domingo, Havana, Tokyo, Prague and New York. He resides in New York City with his family and works as a specialist in digital pre-press at a fine offset printing company.
