Ricardo Zapata is a Miami, FL born artist and educator currently living and working in Philadelphia, PA. He is a Lecturer of Art at the Pennsylvania State University in Abington. He has also taught art courses at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was the 2009-2010 ArtsEdge Residency Program resident artist through the University of Pennsylvania. During this residency, he collaborated creatively with a writer and presented a lecture at the Kelley Writer's House on Cross Pollination and collaboration. He was a recipient of the D'Anna Summer Study Abroad Award to travel and create work in Greece. His work has been exhibited in the United States and abroad and featured in the Washington Post. Ricardo Zapata attended the New World School of the Arts High School in Miami, FL. He received a BFA in painting with minor in Art History from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. He received his MFA in painting and certificate in Graphic Design from PennDesign, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.
