Endress is founder of the Floating Lab Collective, a mobile museum dedicated to bringing art to the public and stimulating an engagement in contemporary art and social issues. Much of his work focuses on immigrant and marginalized populations. He reveals his unique and personal style by using editing and cinematography to marry aspects of his identity to the environment around him. His interest in the relationship between both natural and built landscapes, as well as an attention to the human presence and histories of the spaces they occupy, is reflected in his video creations and documentaries.
Edgar Endress was born in Osorno, Chile in 1970. Though he began his career studying economics, in 1994 he shifted his emphasis to study Audiovisual Arts at the Institute of the Art of Communication (ARCOS) in Santiago, Chile. There, he graduated in 1998 with the equivalent of a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In 1999, he was awarded a fellowship from Syracuse University and graduated in 2001 with a Master of Fine Arts in Art Video. He currently works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Visual Technology at George Mason University in the DC Metropolitan area.
